Azerbaijani Parliament adopts law "On diplomatic service"
Azerbaijani Parliament has today discussed the annex to article #11.2 of the law “On diplomatic service”.

MP Azer Kerimli gave information about the draft law.

It was noted that the draft law is expanding the scope of penalties against diplomats over service flaws.

According to the draft law proposed by the Azerbaijani President, diplomats may be reduced in rank or striped of their ranks for a serious flaw in service duties or any action incompatible with diplomatic service.

The current version of the article is as follows: “They may be reduced in rank or stripped of their ranks when charged with having committed an action illegal according to the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan or the country they are in”.

The part “for a serious flaw in service duties or any action incompatible with diplomatic service” comes ahead of article #11.2.

With the annex, article #11.2 reads as follows: “They may be reduced in rank or stripped of their ranks for a serious flaw in service duties or any action incompatible with diplomatic service or when charged with having committed an action illegal according to the law of Azerbaijan or the country they are in”.

The draft law was put up for voting and adopted.
